A global mining group ran core operations through SAP, across procure-to-pay and plant maintenance. On paper the processes were well defined. In reality, no one could see how closely day-to-day work matched the intended design, or what the gap was costing in delays, rework and control.
Leadership suspected variance but could not quantify it. Standard reports showed outcomes, not the paths work actually took through the system.

We mined the SAP event logs already generated across procure-to-pay and plant maintenance, reconstructing how the process actually ran, every variant, exception and deviation, directly from the transaction data.

We found that only around 35% of transactions followed the defined process.
